How can we live in the moment if the moment changes every second?
Introducing TODAY, a perception-shifting timepiece that invites you into a different rhythm, one that playfully mirrors a more natural, abundant experience of time.
TODAY completes one revolution each day. As the hand makes its twenty four hour journey, subtle shifts in color evoke the changing color of the sky as the sun rises and sets. Starting with the deep indigo of midnight, fresh white begins to emerge to mark the dawn, and a brilliant clear-sky blue chimes in at noon, easing into the pale of dusk and back to midnight.
Profound, quiet, and crafted with steel, TODAY is built to last. A gently domed clear acrylic cover protects the colors and the movement for years to come. Created by Brooklyn Artist Scott Thrift, each timepiece is made in NY and assembled / numbered by hand in the artist's studio.
About Scott Thrift
Scott Thrift is an award winning filmmaker, the co-founder of m ss ng p eces & the artist behind ThePresent. Thrift’s interest in the elasticity of time was born in non-linear editing rooms. He created ThePresent as a release valve for the pressures of modern time. A self proclaimed arm chair philosopher, Thrift landed on the question, “How can we live in the moment, if the moment changes every second?” The answer is ThePresent; a tool that provides access to a larger scale of time so that our idea of what a ‘moment’ is can expand to new dimensions.
