Graphite Hand: Clenched Fist

A writing or drawing instrument is simply an extension of the hand, and the act of making marks lures ideas into the physical world, so says the wise and highly creative artist Agelio Batle. The drawing hand series by Agelio Batle captures this idea in a completely functional drawing utensil.

Each hand is made in San Francisco at the Batle studio, using a composite of highly compressed carbonaceous graphite and smudge-resistant compounds. The hand lasts 7 to 9 years with daily use and will not smudge or rub off.
